What’s Next for Executive Education: AI and Geopolitics at UNICON 2026

Leaders from across the executive education community gathered last week at the UNICON Directors’ Conference 2026, hosted by IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss the future of the field in a rapidly changing environment. Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education was represented by our Business Area Directors, Björn Lindwall and Henrik Björck.
The conference brought together leaders from across the executive education community to discuss the future of the field in a rapidly changing environment. Two themes stood out in particular throughout the program and in conversations with peers: AI and geopolitics. Discussions focused on how these shifts are reshaping leadership needs, organizational priorities, and the role of executive education.
These themes strongly resonate with the conversations we are having with companies and participants at Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education, where many leaders are seeking support both in understanding the opportunities and implications of AI, and in navigating uncertainty, volatility, and a more fragmented global business environment.
These priorities are also evident in our open programs, including AI for Business Leaders and Strategy and Resilience for Business Leaders. Participating in forums such as the UNICON Directors’ Conference is an important way for us to stay connected to the issues shaping executive education globally and to bring relevant insights back to the leaders and organizations we work with.
We would like to thank UNICON, IMD, and everyone who contributed to the discussions throughout the conference.
