Susanna Axelius

Susanna is an organization scholar with a broad interest in society and its multitude of organizations. Her research focuses on how different kinds of organizations and their leaders respond to external expectations and complex missions. Core issues of interest concern the management of value conflicts, the allocation of responsibility and the capability to tackle “grand societal challenges” (such as the climate crisis).

  • Governance and management in the public sector, civil society as well
    as in “hybrid organizations” such as publicly owned enterprises, mutuals, cooperatives and enterprises owned by associations

  • The interplay between trust and control technologies
  • The relation and interplay between politicians (or other elected representatives) and civil servants

Teaching & Outreach

  • Susanna is an active lecturer, faculty and program director highly motivated to engage in learning opportunities and dialogue.
    She is program director for the Swedish public sector management program OSMP and a program for union leaders (OFR).
  • She is also part of the faculty of several programs aimed for
    civil society leaders and leaders of ”hybrid organizations”
    of various kinds. She also teaches students.
