Skyrocketing changes worldwide spotlight the importance of capabilities for (i) quickly analyzing and comprehending internal and external financial conditions and (ii) taking action based on the analyses. These tasks include understanding and applying insights and using tools for external financial reporting, financial analysis, and management control.
Consequently, the Executive Education division in the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) developed Business finance - tools for analysis and evaluation – a new online course. Its purpose? To strengthen managers' abilities in the aforementioned areas and to create better understanding of connections between strategic decisions and their financial consequences.
Finance is a cornerstone of many Executive Education programs. This new course’s unique features include (i) it’s completely online, (ii) course participants can select a flexible start date, and (iii) participants can complete the training at their own pace.
- We want to be available to participants any time that suits them, says Tomas Hjelström, program manager and assistant professor at SSE. This way, they can find time for learning in an otherwise hectic schedule. Interaction with the faculty occurs when they work with their companies’ figures. Then they get feedback on analyses and calculations that are directly linked to their companies’ operations.
According to Anders Richtnér, associate professor and CEO of SSE Executive Education, there’s a clear need for increased knowledge for understanding and developing businesses:

Business finance - tools for analysis and evaluation is the third course in a series in where we are creating Northern Europe’s foremost platform where leaders meet in a digital context to strengthen both their leadership and their organization’s capacity for innovation and change.
About Business finance - tools for analysis and evaluation
The program targets current and future managers and leaders who want to further develop their financial knowledge. The purpose is to develop their financial skills by increasing their knowledge and abilities to apply insights and to use tools for external financial reporting, financial analysis, and financial governance.
